Brief History

Canterbury Landscape Supplies (CLS) was formed in 1989. The company has grown from small beginnings to what is today, one of the largest bark processors and specialist potting mix manufacturers in the South Island.

CLS employs over 20 staff and has a fleet of 10 Trucks servicing Canterbury and all over the country using our freight partners. Our reputation of expertise has been gained through Bark Composting, which has led to CLS composted bark being regarded as the best available in New Zealand. We adhere to Australian Standards for composting (AS4454) which sets strict guidelines, and ensures a constant high quality.

We currently supply city councils, schools, commercial nurseries, landscape yards, retail garden centres and service a large number of sawmills throughout the South Island. Composting and recycling have always been a large focus of the company; and in recent years we have recognised a definite need to assist other companies in exploring options of turning waste products into reusable resource through a composting process. We have enjoyed great success with a variety of companies with varied waste products since first becoming involved in the mid 1990's including Silver Fern Farms and Kaputone Woolscour Ltd.
